LOGITECH AURORA

Wireless Gaming Keyboard, Mouse, and Headset

Role: Industrial Designer

Timeline: Started project June 2020 // Launched July 2022

Team: 4 Industrial Designers, 1 Lead Designer, and 1 Design Manager

Logitech Aurora is a gender-inclusive gaming collection with an emphasis on comfort, approachability, and playfulness. Designing with a wider gaming audience in mind, the team and I developed a new form language which balances soft, approachable curves with the sculpted edginess of pro gaming products — a balance that Logitech dubbed “geo-organic” (a portmanteau of geometric and organic). The products also incorporate many of the features that gamers expect in premium gaming gear, including RGB LED lights, tactile controls, and customizability.

I contributed concepts for the headset, keyboard, and mouse, ideated using Adobe Illustrator orthographics, and hand-shaped foam models. I led the ideation and refinement for three keyboard concepts and built final CAD and renderings.

Headset and keyboard concepts were explored and refined in Adobe Illustrator.

Foam models were made of the mouse to test ergonomics.

I built and refined three keyboard concepts. Concept 1 consists of an extruded aluminum taco shell which sandwiches the internal components and incorporates buttons and dials by punching through the aluminum. Concept 2 is a soft slab constructed from cast aluminum. Concept 3 has a wedge shaped drawn aluminum body with a large diffused lightpipe along the top edge. Concept 2 was developed into the final product.
